IMPACT RESULTS

  • 23 vacant lots activated with community gardens and pop-up markets
  • 340% increase in weekend foot traffic within 12 months
  • 47 new local businesses opened in the district
  • $2.3M in additional local economic activity generated
  • 89% resident satisfaction with neighborhood improvements

THE CHALLENGE

Vacant parcels, fragmented ownership, and low weekend visitation left Eastern Market feeling empty between market days. Residents and merchants needed a shared way to see opportunity in the same lots others dismissed as blight.

THE APPROACH

Community coordinators ran mapping workshops, AR walk-throughs of proposed gardens and pop-up markets, and iterative design sessions with merchants. The platform turned resident sketches into shareable spatial proposals the city and landowners could evaluate together.
